Hari Raya Haji My family headed out to Masjid Ahmad Ibrahim at around 11am this morning. I should say that this experience was definitely a great one. I stayed by the sheep to be slaughtered and read some prayers while stroking its *nose lightly as mum has told me to. The guy holding the knife praised God before slaughtering and continued with some prayers. I wasn't that suprised that the sheep didn't struggle. Cos' ever since i was young, i kept asking my mum why.. And it was true. Since they are sacrificing themselves for the needy, why should they struggle? They are happy to die. Like how i used to watch the National Geographic channel and see how animals die and then eaten by us.. I used to pity them actually. But mum told me that they were more than happy to die. The story behind the sacrificing of these sheeps are definitely a story to hear. It's a story of how a Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked by God to sacrifice his son in a dream. His only son yet. He told his son about it, and his son said in reply that since God asked him to do it, he should. Just before his sacrificed his son, God stopped him and told him that he had passed the test. And instead, asked him to sacrifice a goat/lamb/sheep. That was how the sacrificing came about. Mum snapped a few pictures of the event but i may/may not post the pictures up. Maybe just a few. Anyways, we then headed to gram's place for our usual Hari Raya Haji gathering with everyone. I was delighted to see my cousins again. IQAH, IRAH, FIFI, HADA, IFFAH, DILAH, DIMAZ, Kak Ayu (both XD), Abg Am, Abg Azri, Abg Irsyad. Practically everyone there. And Wak Ahmad was back from Dubai too. Best of all, i got to see my grandpa and grandma once again. I went there last week and grandpa seemed so happy to see me back at their place. Today was such a great experience that i will never forget. InsyaAllah (God Willing), we would be able to do it once more every year. Dad's planning on going for another Umrah next year though. But i may not go this time, instead, bro might go. Any-o-how, i'll pray for everyone in our family to be able to perform our Umrah and Haj at least once. Subahanallah, i'm so happy today. To all muslims around the world, SELAMAT HARI RAYA HAJI! PS: #2 mcdreamy. maybe it happened for a reason. MAYBE. |
