Milestones, highlights. I've learnt not to celebrate New Year according to the Gregorian calendar because our New Year is the 1st of Muharram which was a month ago! Nonetheless, i'm going to recall the memories and the best parts of my life for the past 12 months before the clock strikes 12. Both my brother and i graduated from our respective schools this year; my brother from the National University of Singapore and myself from Temasek Polytechnic. Getting my diploma was special to me. Because i never dreamt of entering a Polytechnic, what more one that made me enjoy the 3 years thoroughly. I met such good friends i know i will try to stay in touch with. I still remember finding it hard to blend it, find new friends and people you can trust, fresh out of secondary school. Entering the Polytechnic also had another form of significance for me because it was when i decided to put on the hijab permanently and made a promise to Allah s.w.t that i will obey His words and try my best to strive to be a good Muslim. Alhamdulilah, 3 years later and today, i'm still wearing my hijab, ignoring what negativity that comes my way because when you do it for God, it makes things a whole lot easier. My friends were extremely respectful and considerate. A couple are especially sweet because seeing the need for me to have pretty pins and brooches (lol), they got me a few. Thank you! I love them and treasure them so much, as so i do to our friendship that will continue to blossom. I also met different groups of friends who advised me on different issues. With my girls from my Public Speaking class who are constantly the highlight of the party, always talking about girl stuff which opened my eyes on many things. My dearest B.I.G clique who helped me keep sane, discuss about various issues that helped me expand my views on life and whatnots. It's amazing how diverse my group of friends are because we're all individuals with differing opinions and beliefs but there's something that always makes us click. It's amazing. My 3-year course in Temasek Polytechnic also opened my eyes as to how dedicated lecturers can be. The bunch that taught me were always very willing to help us out with whatever we had difficulty with. I remember having lecturers who helped me personally when i had trouble (especially with Accounting...my goodness). My accounting lecturer was very kind and helpful. Help me with my grades from a miserable C to a B+. Yes i was bad at accounting and i have never liked it though i forced myself to eventually. Overall, i had a time of my life in Temasek Polytechnic. I would strongly recommend anyone to go there to get a diploma. Provided you join camps too because they are awesssommmeee! Not forgetting the 2 groups that changed my life in TP. B.I.G obviously one and VC for photography. I had the best 3 years of my life there. ![]()
Well, that was the highlight of my year. I suppose it's very cliche but it is, really the best. I graduated with my closest friends and had my dimwits attend it despite it being held in the evening and totally out of range for us (East sideeeee)! Not to mention the fact that we attended each others' graduation. That felt really special. I love my dimwits with all my heart and it will stay that way. A few other events that happened this year that i will never forget... 1) Finding a temporary job with my 大姐 and ended up working together for 3 months. Met another great bunch of girls, Esther, Joanna and Xinru! Truly thankful to have met Xinru especially because she always had my backing at work whenever i came across any trouble :') It's so difficult to find such good colleagues like her please! 2) Taking a short but relaxing vacation to Frasers' Hill with my family. It was our first time up there and we had a good time relaxing and soaking in what we've missed, nature. Weather was absolutely perfect and being able to walk out in the jungle in the cold weather was certainly the best! 3) Entering Uni.. I haven't had the best experience so far but i have met a great group of friends who keep me sane (yes i always need people to keep me sane in school) and always encouraging me to keep pushing on! 4) Going for my first ever concert. Seeing Westlife in person. It was a mind-blowing experience and i was so glad i took the chance. You have no idea how excited i was! So happy i went ahead because it's the last time they were going to perform together here in Singapore 3 5) Running my first marathon. I ran my first ever 10km race in my life with Xinru and Jiashi! A valuable experience that will be etched in my mind forever. It actually motivates you to keep running for races! $$$ though, is something i'll have to think about. Haha! 6) One month without my parents while they were away for Hajj! It was manageable.. But i learnt a few things about myself and the fact that i still can't live without my parents :) 7) Having 3 birthday cakes in one day itself on my 20th! By my colleagues, girlfriends right after work and from dad when i came home <3 That's about it for now. Take care! PS: Abrupt end because the weather is so suffocating! :'( |
