taken during the Back to Basics outing with VC i think

Shall do a proper update i suppose.

To begin everything, it was a pleasure to be an SL. I'm glad i went for the interview, attended the camp, made so many new friends, forged a bond with so many people who i will never forget. What's more, to become the first friend of some of the freshies. It was hard to cope at certain points of the whole process but i managed to enjoy myself thoroughly. There were a lot of things that our seniors taught us during the whole process and it certainly helped me improve myself. In my 18 years, i seldom had a chance to lead. It was probably only one true time where i had my chance to lead, though not so much - primary 6 class vice-chairman. HAHAHA. Since i didn't join YLDP in secondary school, i realised that i lost that huge opportunity to do something like that. So, being an SL was a big step for me - something totally different from who i was before. And it was a truly invaluable experience. I would love to return next year to be an SL again :D

Day 1:
Met my primary schoolmate, Raymond, at the interchange and headed to school. It was a shaky beginning because we were new at this. I was grouped with Martin and ChinXuan (CX) which turned out to be quite good since we clicked easily. We took charge of 1B08 - number 8! HAHAHA, fate or what la right? :P *nudges Shawn. Ok, back to the story. Slowly, our freshies came and it was quite hard to get them to talk to one another in the beginning. So We kindda just ask them to,"Eh, talk la.. Don't shy la. You guys gonna be classmates for the whole year leh." And one of our freshies, Andrew i remember, started off by offering chewing gum to his classmates. FIRST TIME AH. So cute XD Make friends by offering sweets. HAHAHA. But it was nice to see the class slowly getting accustomed to one another because by the middle of the day, they were talking to each other so much XD Not to mention how 'proud' and accomplished we felt. We didn't get to play any proper ice-breaking games because of the time constraint but the freshies got along very easily. During mass dance, partnered Martin for a while and taught the other freshies from another class before joining 1B08 for the school dance. WOAH, total bonding time - was very happy! If i remembered correctly, we had LT games after that. Was quite alright. Battle of the sexes - girls won :P Helped facilitate during the scavenger hunt and cheered but honestly, felt a bit demoralised because the freshies at the back weren't cheering :/ Anyhow, i was really hungry because i didn't have a proper lunch so CX and me went to Cheers to get something light and some lollipops for our freshies. Super nice right? HAHAHA. But yeah, was really proud of them for being able to bond very quickly. After the LT games, we had mass mass dance at the track. While waiting for everything to start, the freshies were seated under the hot sun and omg, i was suddenly reminded of how i dealt with the heat last year. Didn't want them to have the same fate so 3 of us went to look for cardboards - tore them up and i think the freshies were glad they had some form of 'air-con' treatment la XD Tug-of-war first. The staff won this year! Then, i did mass dance with 1B08's careperson, Mr Teo XD And the rest of the teachers beside us were so cute XD They kept messing up steps but i bet we all had so much fun! We did so many encores of the school song after that XD Then... debrief and went home straight.

Day 2:
4 969 buses passed without stopping. Ended up making friends (sort of la.. like 30 minutes. HAHAHA) with 2 Tampines ITE girls and took a cab down to school with them. I know it's not good to ride with strangers or just talking to them randomly but 3 of us were really late and so we split the cost among us 3. I don't think i will do that again though, up till this minute, i still can't believe i actually did that. Anywho, i reached school on time and assembled for briefing. We had temporary tattoos this year as identities and i actually liked it XD Some people may think we look stupid with them on but i really liked the idea. So, freshies came in and we settled them down for the CM's speech which lasted for about an hour i think. It was a very rushing tea reception for the freshies after that. I felt a bit guilty to rush them to eat and then change. The girls were very cooperative and i was happy to see that. It was a very long queue to the toilet and we were all rushing for time so i asked them to create a circle and get the others to cover the person in the middle so she can change - that was what we did last year. Sort of like a bonding thing also right?! HAHAHA. But yeah, it worked and they managed to change really quickly. After everyone was back, CX brought them to meet their CP while i was frantically settling something else - lol. The CPs didn't let us in so Naomi, Nicholas, CX and me ended up at the classroom corridors and practiced the Jai Ho dance we had to prepare. HAHAHA. Funny! Some of the freshies in the classroom could see us and it was so embarassing D: We were entertaining ourselves also, honestly. XD

Brought the class to the sports complex for lunch after which. Felt guilty again because they had to squeeze and it was so warm. Provided 'air-con' again XD Nicholas - one of my freshies enjoying the air-con - suddenly said,"Why do you always do the cheap jobs?" EEHH! -_____- Joker la.. The SLs went to have lunch after the freshies had theirs and out of the blue, Hanzo gathered XD! It started out with me, Anisha and Samuel. Then we saw Alfresco sitting down so we joined him. Soon after, the rest came and Nana suggested to take pictures. WAH, DAMN LOVE AH! XD We never had outings like the other sects did but we're still as close - or maybe closer. <333 Made me feel really hyped up for the rest of the day. And i must thank Anisha for forcing me to have lunch because it helped in the late afternoon. All the cheering! To be honest, it was again demoralising because the freshies behind weren't cheering :/ But i decided that i'll lost my voice if i have to, i had to cheer. I never cheered like i did yesterday. Of all the events i joined in school, yesterday was the first time i cheered so much. I didn't lose my voice like i did last year during FOC but i think i gave more effort yesterday. Anisha, her gang, CX and me were standing behind together and agreed that since it would be our last chance to show what we are to the judges, we'd cheer till our voices fade. And we did! :D We had tons of fun at the same time. And for a while, we thought we weren't going to win the trophy.

BUT WE DID! BUSINESS ALL THE WAY! :DDDDD 6th time next year?! :'D

After everything ended, i went to the CC to see some of my favourite people in school now XD Wanted to see the pictures Nadiah and Diyana took initially but ended up chatting with the rest there too (: I felt a pinch of regret of not joining them for Week 0 but i had a fun and fulfilling experience as an SL! There will definitely be more fun with VC for sure. Headed back with Nicole, Nadiah (my evil twin), Siti, Alfred, Liu Ying and Kat after that.

Was relieved when i got home. Needed to rest because i was feeling quite faint from the heat and all. Stayed up to watch Ghost Whisperer and Survivor. Die hard fan, can't miss another episode ready. XD

PS: YAY! Seems like the next family gathering would be pushed earlier to next Saturday! Celebrating Wani's birthday :DDDDD I'm excited already! So ecstatic!
PPS: Reading my past entries and comparing them with my current ones, it feels like i've changed. Definitely happier than before. Although there are things that can be corrected to make myself feel better, coming into a new environment, almost feeling as if i started anew. "Be happy with yourself before making others happy." I think Mariame told me that too? THANKS AH. I thank God for giving me a friend like you. <33
