Week Zero Last event i shot as a Year 2 student in TP today; Week Zero Orientation. ![]() This year's experience was different in many ways. Even though i was 'in action', i wasn't part of the action; all the cheering, competitions, etc. Last year as an SL (synergy leader), i learnt a lot. Things such as patience, endurance and the ability to inspire people. It was a lot of fun, especially the fact that we as SLs are the freshies' first friends in school apart from their classmates. Furthermore, i made a lot of friends during the camp and some who are now more than just hi-bye friends. However this year round, i decided to spend the Week 0 with VC! Shooting the Week 0 orientation was quite an experience. In addition, i went to shoot alone today (alone = with juniors who i am not familiar with and very little seniors around) so there were less distractions or 'desire' to chat and slack 8D Don't get me wrong, i really miss the times we shot together - Nadiah H., Diyana, Michele, ZX, Louis, Gladys, etc. I miss every single part of the experience of being in VC. It has been quite some time since i really put my heart to shoot a school event, honestly. So today was one of those days where i pushed myself beyond my comfort zone and shot during the afternoon. The sweltering heat was a turn-off. Tuesday's kite-flying session with the girls rewarded me with a sunburnt face and it still hasn't recovered! BUT ARGH WHO CARES. For some reason, i was quite 'on' today to shoot. So yes, i did. I was assigned to shoot for the Applied Science school. I don't know it's a TP thing but everyone's just so nice and everyone likes to camwhore XD It WAS awkward because i didn't know anyone from the Applied Science school there(my batch) and those whom i knew weren't SLs. Aiyah, but let's skip that boring stuff and get on. What is with me and all these blabbering! ![]() The exeperience was rewarding. I realised today when i was shooting that i've definitely improved in photography. Like adjusting my settings within seconds and how to focus quickly and get things right. It's only my 2nd year into photography and i won't say that i'm any good as compared to the gazillions of photographers out there, but i am trying my best. ![]() I really liked the cheers that the AS came up with. ![]() And the way i looked at it, the freshies seemed like they were having fun cheering too. It was such a pleasant sight to see. The experience from last year as an SL showed me how difficult it is to inspire people and lead them. So it was a very nice sight to see today. The games were interesting and slightly different this year. It was surprising that we didn't have the tug-of-war though. I didn't see the CPs(carepersons) there either, so i suppose that was the reason why there wasn't any tug-of-war. A couple of pictures from one of the games just now. The freshies had to be in the box and are guided by their respective schools to form our school logo, which is properly divided into puzzle pieces that were printed on the top of the box. Mad atmosphere! But quite fun! :D ![]()
After the games in school, they left to the Bedok Reservoir to have the Regatta. I went back to the darkroom where everyone was and hung out there till the end. Didn't feel like shooting Regatta because of the weather D: So around 4pm, the girls went opposite of school to get Songhan (junior) his birthday cake. We came back and did a little surprise and chatted for a while before Levon and i left. Had a good time today (; ![]() Gladys, Winnie and me Great AY. But now it's time to move on. Year 3 in 2 days time. |
